Chival-what?

What happened to chivalry?

Maybe it's just the way I grew up, my dad was very old school Italian and made sure both of my older brothers knew what's up. I remember when we were young and my dad would get on my brother Brandon for not opening the door for his mother and sister. I got used to chairs being pulled out for me, doors opened for me, my oldest brother Mark won't even let me walk on the same side of the street that the cars are coming.

Don't get me wrong, I don't NEED the door opened for me. Clearly I can do it for myself, however it's just one of those things that implies respect. It shows me that you are a gentleman and probably brought up right. It FOR SURE adds points fellas.

But I guess if we want to be treated like a lady, we should probably act like one too. That includes 'thank you', 'bless you', your welcome, etc. I think a lady also includes showing a bit of chivalry yourself. I'm definitely the most polite person I know, other than my mom. This isn't ego, I make a point to be that way. I too was brought up by the same guy as my bros. I say 'thank you' and 'I'm sorry' and 'your welcome' more than any person I know. It's probably annoying at times, but I would rather be overly polite than be disrespectful in any light.  I open the door for people all the time, especially people who are older than me. Plain and simple, if I get to the door before you I will open it. Now, if we're on a date and I get the door and you just walk in without a thank you...we have problems. If I get to the door before you and open it and you don't take it...we got issues. I don't know maybe that's just me. But I can't help it. I totally think it was how I was raised, and it completely changes how the night goes on from there. These are very simple gestures that aren't very hard to do, but have a great impact.

anyway, just wondering when being a gentleman went out of style..

?

why are we talking about

when..

is in the SAME movie. I mean..

I'm sorry, I forgot what I was saying..

The Four Kinds Of Love

So I was hanging with a friend and came across some really awesome quotes from "Paris Talks". It was really beautiful and eye opening, especially number 4..

"WHAT a power is love! It is most wonderful, the greatest of all living powers. Love gives life to the lifeless. Love lights a flame in the heart that is cold. Love brings hope to the hopeless and gladdens the hearts of the sorrowful.

In the world of existence there is indeed no greater power than the power of love. When the heart of man is aglow with the flame of love, he is ready to sacrifice all--even his life. In the Gospel it is said God is love.

~There are four kinds of love. The first is the love that flows from God to man; it consists of the inexhaustible graces, the Divine effulgence and heavenly illumination. Through this love man is endowed with the physical existence, until, through the breath of the Holy Spirit--the same love--he receives eternal life and becomes the image of the Living God. This love is the origin of all the love in the world of creation.

~The second is the love that flows from man to God. This is faith, attraction to the Divine, enkindlement, progress, entrance into the Kingdom of God, receiving the Bounties of God, illumination with the lights of the Kingdom. This love is the origin of all Philanthropy; this love causes the hearts of men to reflect the rays of the Sun of Reality.

~The third is the love of God towards the Self or Identity of God. This is the transfiguration of His Beauty, the reflection of Himself in the mirror of His creation. This is the reality of love, the Ancient Love, the Eternal Love. Through one ray of this Love all other love exists.

~The fourth is the love of man for man. The love which exists between the hearts of believers is prompted by the ideal of the unity of spirits. This love is attained through the knowledge of God, so that men see the Divine Love reflected in the heart. Each sees in the other the Beauty of God reflected in the soul, and finding this point of similarity, they are attracted to one another in love. This love will make all men the waves of the sea, this love will make them all the stars of one heaven and the fruits of one tree. This love will bring the realization of true accord, the foundation of real unity.
But the love that which sometimes exists between friends is not (true) love, because it is subject to transmutation; this is merely fascination. As the breeze blows, the slender trees yield. If the wind is in the East the tree leans to the West, and if the wind turns to the West the tree leans to the East. This kind of love is originated by the accidental conditions of life. This is not love, it is merely acquaintanceship; it is subject to change.
Today you will see two souls apparently in close friendship; tomorrow all this may be changed. Yesterday they were ready to die for one another, today they shun one another's society! This is not love; it is the yielding of the hearts to the accidents of life. When that which has caused this 'love' to exist passes, the love passes also; this is not in reality love.

Love is only of the four kinds that I have explained. (a) The love of God towards the identity of God. Christ has said God is love. (b) The love of God for his children--for His servants. (c) The love of man for God and (d) the love of man for man. These four kinds of love originate from God. These are the rays from the Sun of Reality; these are the Breathings of the Holy Spirit; these are the Signs of Reality."

I mean, it makes sense. "This kind of love is originated by the accidental conditions of life." My friend used the example of two people that work together and see each other everyday, falling in 'love'. After they leave or whatever happens, that bubble kind of bursts and you're able to see things more clearly and realize what that was. The end result, usually, is that it wasn't love; "merely fascination".

Anyway, it opened my eyes a little. Thought I'd share. Happy Tuesday!

um, I've said this before and I'll say it everyday...If I woke up one morning and I was Beyonce, I would NOT be mad. I usually don't say that I wanna BE someone, however I would like to be Beyonce. It's stupid how sick she is! ok. I'm done. Off to make tamales. You're jealous..

Hussein Chalayan

the hands...amazing. I want...I need...

ok. so today is tamale day YAY! Every year right before xmas, the fam (mostly the ladies) get together and make hundreds of tamales (I have a HUGE family) & eat them xmas eve. It's an all day event and is spent listening to Johnny Mathis and Mariah Carey, talking about everything and laughing like it's going out of style. It's actually something that was maybe not gonna happen this year till I called my mother and threw a huge fit about "FAMILY TRADITION" and we made it happen.

It wasn't until right after this phone call that I got a facebook invite to join a bunch of friends in a birthday PAINTBALL bash! i love paintball!!! It's dirty and scary and hurts like a bitch but it's also an incredible time. Here's a short clip of what I'm missing out on..
